How many domains?

When purchasing a Commercial version you need to decide on how many domains you want it. To use a custom branded player on one domain such as mydomain.com you need a single-domain Commercial license. All subdomains such as www.mydomain.com or my.media.mydomain.com are included. For another domain such as otherdomain.com or mydomain.net you need an additional license. For your own protection the license is not transferable. A request to change the domain of your license in fact leads to the generation of a new license and therefore incurs a fee of $39/€29.25 via the support channel.

For special deployment cases, for instance over an intranet, you can choose an ip-number as domain name, and since version 3.2.8 Flowplayer licenses also validate against unofficial top-level domains. However, Flowplayer licenses only validate against http:// and https:// addresses, local deployment via the file:// protocol is not compliant with the licensing scheme.

The end users can also embed the player on their site with your branding in it. Use the embed, sharing or viral videos plugin for embedding. The embedded player is installed with a pure OBJECT tag and lacks the JavaScript API and event support. If you want a full featured player on unlimited amount of different domains you need an Unlimited license.

The Unlimited License

The Unlimited License allows you to make the player part of your product. Each copy of your Unlimited player will have the so-called Service Domain compiled into it. The Service Domain can be any domain of your choice, usually from where you mostly serve the player. This way the Unlimited License offers you two ways to distribute Flowplayer featuring your own logo and branding:

1. You will obtain an algorithm to generate product keys yourself for as many domains as you wish. A copy of your Flowplayer can then be deployed on each respective domain for which you created the key.

2. You may also distribute the player to any number of client domains by serving it from the Service Domain. As opposed to the single-domain and multi-domain licenses the key for your Service Domain is not bound to the domain in the browser's location bar. And you do not need to specify a license key in the player configuration as the key for the Service Domain is already compiled in.

The Unlimited license is ideal for Content Management Systems, for example. The price includes all bug-fix releases. All upgrades to the Unlimited license are again custom compiled for you. Therefore please contact support@flowplayer.org mentioning Unlimited upgrade in the subject of your email when you want to upgrade.

The product key

The product key in commercial versions removes the Flowplayer copyright statement and allows you to use your own branding.

The product key is tied to the domain name that shows in the browser's location bar - in the case of iframes when the frame is viewed in its own window. Without a valid key the player is fully functional but the Flowplayer trademark is visible.

Product keys are generated manually after the purchase. You supply the domain names where you plan to use Flowplayer.

The key is validated by the player itself and it does not connect to the Flowplayer website at any time. The license is yours forever, no upgrade policy is enforced.

When a player is embedded on another domain using the OBJECT tag the product key must match the domain from where the player is loaded.

License management

Flowplayer licenses are managed at your Flowplayer account. There you can enter the domains of your choice to generate Product Keys and download your commercial releases. Please keep your personal information up to date, especially your email address.

Account access

We care about the privacy and safety of your personal data and licenses. If you have forgotten your password you can retrieve it in a safe way from here. In case the email address to which your Flowplayer account is bound has become invalid as well, we have to ask you to provide us with a proof of purchase - PayPal transaction or receipt ID - before we can grant you access to your account again.

Note: In your own interest we cannot divulge personal account information on email request. Sender addresses may be forged, and complying with such a request would result in a breach of confidentiality.

If you purchase Flowplayer licenses as employee of a company we advise you to connect your Flowplayer account to a long-lived non-personal email address like licensing@example.com or flowplayer@example.com.

How to pay?

PayPal is our primary way of purchasing. Here are the steps to complete a payment.

1. Press the PayPal button.
2. Sign in to PayPal and make your purchase or alternatively use a credit card
3. After the purchase Return to the Flowplayer website from a displayed link. You are automatically directed to the 'Licenses' section of your Flowplayer account.
4. Generate the product key(s) for your domain(s) and after that you can download your product.

Direct Bank Account

You can alternatively pay directly to our bank account. Once you have made the purchase please send a copy of it to us via email (PDF or image). With a valid receipt we can supply you the products immediately without waiting for the transaction to complete.

Receipt

You can print a valid receipt from your account after the purchase.

Refund

If you are not happy with the product we can give you a refund. Send an email to support@flowplayer.org and explain your situation.

Upgrading

When you purchase a license it is yours forever. There are no monthly fees or any other costs. You will also receive all bug fix releases for free.

About once a year we create a new feature release. If you want the new version you need to upgrade. This happens from the "Commercial licenses" section on your account. You'll see payment buttons under you current license with a lower upgrade price.

Non-profit discount

We offer a 25% discount to non-commercial educational institutions and non-profit organizations. The Commercial license is then $70/€52.50 and the Multidomain license $295/€221.25. Please contact support@flowplayer.org with a direct link to your site and we will check whether you qualify. Be prepared to provide us with a copy (screenshot, pdf) of an official document - for example from inland revenue - regarding your non-profit status.
