Controls visible but not working

Posted: Aug 5, 2010

Dear other users and experts,

I've installed Flowplayer "succesfully" using javascript and can "manage"the controls appearance, but they don't seem to do their job.
Except for "Full SCreen" the various parts are disconnected from any action. seehttp://www.boland-devries.nl/testsite/why.htm
No start
No progress on the bar
No progress in the timer-counter
No mute
No volume control

What am I missing?

Your "video" is an swf (Flash) file. They are more or less treated as images by flowplayer (or any Flash player for that matter), flowplayer is an swf Flash file itself. You cannot control swf files. In a way it is overkill to "play" them with flowplayer, as you could embed them directly.

For video formats to be played in flowplayer look here:

TNX 4 HELP... but what is the most efficient format?

Dear Blacktrash,

Thanks for the very quick and clear reply.
I tried MP4 and the controls work.

But MP4 is 1.5x the size of the swf format.

What would be the most efficient format?

Actually, no, mp4 using the h.264 codec is the most efficient format. It just depends on the parameters you give to your transcoding program (I hope you were not transcoding from swf, bad idea, avoid if possible), and of course what kind of program you use.
