sorensonmedia plugin & ipad troubles

Posted: Aug 31, 2010

When hosting our mp4 video files on our web server I can get flowplayer to connect and play the videos for both browser and ipad/iphone.

However when I throw sorensonmedia plugin into the mix, it will play and stream from sorensonmedia.com just fine in browser but wont play on on ipad/iphone.

Are we not allowed to stream from a source such as sorensonmedia.com and have its be ipad/iphone compatible or did I discover a bug?

You cannot use any of the Flash plugins with the iPad. The Apple devices don't support Flash. Also the sorenson plugin is incompatible.

Obviously you can't use flash directly with iPad. But since the Flowplayer supports the iPad and the iPhone even without the IPad plugin I would assume you could handle it in the same way, regardless of where the the MP4 was being serverd, as FP normally enables iPad compatibility.

FP script must detect the the device type outside of Flash when the video is being served from a non-360 source doesn't it? Sorry this confuses me.

You said " Also the sorenson plugin is incompatible". Incompatible with what? (Just the iPad, iPhone? That would be obvious since it's Flash, or did you mean incompatible with something else?

Thanks.
