Commercial licence

Posted: May 30, 2011

Hi Guys,

I am new to flowplayer, just starting to experiment with the free version. Before getting too involved in this, I'd like to ask some questions about the commercial licence, and how it fits my requirements.

I am looking at using flowplayer in an embedded application (not mobile). The equipment may be connected to the Internet or standalone (local content on device, or local content server). It will not run on a domain.

1. Does the commercial license cover this type of application, or do we need to discuss a special case?

2. As mentioned above, the application is designed to run standalone with optional Internet access. Does the commercial licence require Internet access for verification?

Thanks

Chris

1. The commercial license is enough for this usage.
2. The player will work without internet access. The player works without a license key when the play swf is loaded from 'localhost' or from the disk using the 'file:' protocol.

Internet access is not required as the player does not 'phone home' to validate the license. The license key verification happens completely inside the player as it knows the domain where it is embedded in. And in this case the domain can be the local domain.

Hope this helps.

Anssi,

Thanks for your answer. That helps a lot, looks like no problem for my application.
