Flowplayer shows video squeezed on top in Firefox

Posted: Jul 15, 2009

Hi guys,

I am using 3.0.2, commercial version. Flowplayer sometimes shows video squeezed vertically, displayed on top of video area.

Width is correnct, incorrect is height of video which is about 15 pixels. Whole video sits on top of player area, with changed geometry.

This is happening only on Firefox.

Link to example:

How can I work around this bug?

3.0.2 is pretty old by now. Can you upgrade to at least the last version of that series (3.0.7)? You might also want to see if the problem is fixed in 3.1.1. You can try with the free version as a test.

Tested using 3.1.0, then upgraded to 3.1.2 without improvement.

Using Firefox 3.5.2, on OS X 10.5.8.

I can reliably replicate this bug by reloading the page, and removing the page from view until loading is complete (in my example I was switching to another tab within Firefox). If I simply perform a soft or hard refresh of the page, while keeping the page in view, it renders as expected.

According to Firebug, the DIV and OBJECT elements are the correct height, which narrows the problem down to the Flash object itself.

For what it's worth, I am able to replicate the bug using the video embedded on http://flowplayer.org/demos/configuration/index.html

I think I managed to fix this now. The fix is available in 3.1.3-dev.

Also following page now uses 3.1.3-dev and at least for me the video shows up in correct size:http://flowplayer.org/demos/configuration/index.html

It appears to be fixed for the demo page (I'm yet to try it on my own site).

Is there an ETA for a non-dev release of 3.1.3 yet? Or would you consider 3.1.3-dev stable enough for production?

Most likely 3.1.3 goes out next week. The fix that we are talking about here is so important that we want to get it out quickly.

The dev version should be quite stable and if you don't see issues in your site you can go with that in production.

Same Problem with 3.1.2

Same problem here in the latest version of Flowplayer.

The video shows as a narrow slice, squeezed vertically down to 5 or so pixels. It appears about halfway up the screen, but it's vertical position is different for different occurrances. I'm using the latest version of Firefox on OS X Leopard. This happens sporadically, something like every 1 in 20 - 30 times a page is loaded. Refreshing the page usually causes it to load correctly.
