A new version of Flowplayer? Oh, no -- I'll have to update my ENTIRE site!

Posted: Dec 19, 2010

I know it's for my own good--what with all the viruses, malware, hackers, and warrantless spying going around, it's always smartest to have the latest version of ANY software. But having to go into my WordPress site and update all my Flowplayer pages is going to take, like, FOREVER! Well, there's no use whining about it...it HAS to be done...

So I download and open the Flowplayer zip file. Upload the new files. Go into my WordPress admin area. Open the header file for the theme I'm using. Type the two new digits in the javascript for the player. Save and close. Open the theme's footer file. Type the two new digits into the multi-function player javascript. Save and close. Log out of admin area. Go to site and see that Flowplayers still work. Reopen FTP program and delete old Flowplayer files. Close FTP program.

Whew! I can't believe that it's finally done. And I hope you're happy, Flowplayer--you put me through hard labor that took FOUR MINUTES out of my life!

I'm stuck with IE6 and Windows XP and at work. I can play Flowplayer FLV files, but not MP4s.

Yes, I'm using the default settings. Compared to Firefox, though, Safari (Version 3.2) seems to drag a little. (I'm on a PPC G4 System OS 10.4.11 with 786 RAM.)

"Publish Your Domain" Page Truncates

Posted: Feb 9, 2009

I'm finally ready to show off my Flowplayer Web page. I log in, go tohttp://www.flowplayer.org/account/publish.html -- and after "Select the domains you want to publish and supply a description and a descriptive image for them" the page is blank! It is because I'm using a Mac, or have you already fulfilled your quota of new domains for the month?

Well, I work mostly through Firefox on a Mac, and I can report that my Flowplayer has worked just fine!

RE: Flowplayer JPG image

Posted: Jan 11, 2009

Hi! I'm delighted to be working with Flowplayer simply because it means that I won't have to be totally dependent on YouTube.

While watching a test run of my FP video, I got an idea about how to make its JPG image. I took a screen shot of the video playing, cropped it in Photoshop, and made it the exact same size as the FP player window. Now instead of having one big image, I have what appears to be the first frame of the video because the toolbar is included. Though you can click anywhere on the image to start the video, of course, it appears that you have to click on the toolbar--a nice professional touch!

P.S. I'm getting ready to convert my site to Wordpress, so I'll certainly be checking out the FP for it.
