» » » » flowplayer 2 works on localhost, version 3 not, why?

Posted: Jun 17, 2009

Hi everyone,

yes it is flash security problem. As gmccomb said it is not good to force user to navigate for special settings, it must be as easy as possible.

One way to solve this is for me to compile flowplayer with flashdevelop with network option set to false so flash runtime will allow my swf to load movies from local source.

Currently I am trying to make my own simple player which will fit better for my project, flowplayer v2 i will be using before it will be done.

The problem is that i have more than 160 files ( more than 30h video ) so i have to do more intuitive navigation than one huge playlist. I would have to do that anyway so also i will learn a bit :)

Thanks everyone

flowplayer 2 works on localhost, version 3 not, why?

Posted: Jun 13, 2009

I have quite old version of flowplayer version 2 ( i do not know which exactly, file is named flowplayerdark, I've downloaded it a long time ago ) and it works with videos played on localhost on my computer.
I do not receive security error or I don't have to change security settings.

But version 3 which is just awesome gives me security error:
201, Unable to load stream, cannot access the video file (try loosening Flash security settings).

My question:

Is it possible to use flowplayer 3 locally without digging into flash security settings?

I want to use flowplayer on dvd project but i am afraid that i will have to use a bit older 2 version. Well it will not be hard but i can't find documentation for flowplayer 2 anymore. This player is developing to quick :)

edit: thanks to google I found v2 docs here:

» » more errors - want object method for simplicity

Posted: Dec 19, 2008

i have the same errors with object, i wasted 4 hours on that flowplayer and finnaly moved to jv flv plyer.

Flowplayer have amazing features but the problem is that you have choosen jquery for most interaction with player. I love jquery but in this library many times that what works in mozilla do not work in ie.

Why it is not possible to use xml files for configuration and playlist?

i also have flash 10 and most object, embed demos do not work for me

i hope that in future it will be just easier for adding flowplayer. I know you wanted it to make flexible etc but browser erors make it so f@#$ hard that it is sometimes frustrating, people also should have ability to use the most simple approach or like me will move to another player.
Maybe i am not web specialist but most of users are like me
