SimpleCDN support portal

Posted: Nov 7, 2009

Hi Tony,

I am having a lot of problems with the SimpleCDN support portal. I have tried using the support tickets, sending emails to support and sales, even calling but no-one is responding.

My latest ticket id is ECO-625169. Please can you let me know if this has been received.

Thank you,
Thomas

Stormfront vs. Hurricane

Posted: Apr 17, 2009

Hi,

I see that simplecdn.com is now offering to 2 products - StormFront and Hurricane.

I have read through both plans and wanted to see what others are choosing.

I have 30 videos or so and have been pseudostreaming mp4 files with flv fallback. The main reason for this is so that people with slow connections can view the videos without constant stopping and starting, but now with bandwith detection I am not sure if that is necessary. I get about 40 people watching the video per day so my bandwidth usage is not huge.

To set up the Stormfront account I will need $600 for 4GB and that will increase by $149 for each extra GB needed.

I can set up Hurricane for £125 so it will be much cheaper to establish.

I just wanted to see what other simplecdn/flowplayer users are doing.

Many thanks

Thank you Anssi,

I still have so much to learn, I have been reading about the Web Inspector and will be reading up on how to use it.

Please let me know if you figure out how to fix this problem.

Best wishes

Small issue with pseudostreaming-3.1.1

Posted: Mar 5, 2009

Hi,

Very pleased to be using the new pseudostreaming-3.1.1 it certainly fixed the mp4 problems I was having. However, I still have a small issue.

In Safari and in Firefox on my Mac the video stops about 3-4 seconds before the end. I looked at the Activity window and it said there was an error with the video with the start code ?start=0 at the end.

I hope I an make that clearer.
The page that I noticed it was at

http://www.ivfpodcasts.com/IVF_Podcasts/Podcasts.php?Oocyte-Cryopreservation---The-Patient-s-Perspective-16

however, you can see the same issue at:

http://ivfpodcasts-s3.simplecdn.net/videos/LindsayNohrBeck.mp4?start=0

at least in Safari, ie the video stops a few seconds before the end. You can see that it is not the video if you look at:

http://ivfpodcasts-s3.simplecdn.net/videos/LindsayNohrBeck.mp4

which plays all the way through.

I am using Safari Version 4 Public Beta, but I don't think this is the issue because it is happening in Firefox too.

No idea if this happens on windows yet or not.

Any ideas?
Many thanks

I think you are right blacktrash, I am making things more complicated for myself. I am going to do as you suggest. Thank you once again.

Thank you for that LiamGooding, with your help I think I am getting somewhere but now I think it is a bug. I have removed even more code including the pseudo stuff and now I have set up 3 videos on one page:

1) This is confirmation that the video works.
2) This is a playlist starting with an image and the going to a video. You cannot start and stop the video by clicking on the video.
3) This has a playlist with the same set up as the above but with two videos instead of starting with an image. This works as it should.

This again was tested with Safari and Firefox on a Mac.

Thank you LiamGooding,

I can see I still have a lot more to learn. I appreciate your help and will do as you suggest.

I have paired down the page to it's bare bones now.
It can be seen at:

Thank you again!

Sorry, link should be

http://ivfpodcasts.com/test/Untitled-3.php

Tested with Sarfari and Firefox on Mac.

I can get other videos to start and start by clicking on them so it seems to be something I have done with the set up.

Thank you for looking. It is very much appreciated.

» CSS Flyout Menu On Top Of Flowplayer?

Hi arhkah,

Try adding

z-index:999;

to your ul flyout css navigation file. I had the same problem with Google maps and this worked for me :)

Play configuration - Player not pausing when clicked

Posted: Feb 21, 2009

Hi,

I set up a player at:
http://www.ivfpodcasts.com/test/Untitled-3.html

All looks good and works until I try to pause it by clicking on the video. When I try to do this the video does not pause. The only way to pause is to click the control bar.
I have been going around in circles trying to figure it out but no luck, and I hope one of the whizzes here might see what's wrong.

I have got a flowplayer video working in this page so I am pretty sure it is how I have coded it but I couldn't figure it out.

(Ps. I have two flv files and am using this setup until I get my mp4 files sorted out)

Thanks you blacktrash and arjen,

It's good to hear there is a fix. I also got a sneak peak at some of your films blacktrash, when I get some spare time I will check them out :)

I have spent about 8 hours going round in circles.

I have tried Quicktime - Mpeg 4 export & H.264 with streaming enabled with and without optimized for server same issue, timer not counting up & staying at 00:00.

I have exported with visualvub, this does have a place to force ffmpeg encoding and Extra FFmpeg flags from a dropdown menu. No luck with the settings I tried. I tried with and without RTSP streaming checked.

I looked at ffmpeg and downloaded it but I have no idea where to start with that.

I have downloaded mp4box for mac & Episode (which didn't work even though it would cost nearly $500). I searched for MplayerX but that did not seem to have an export feature.

Everything I have tried has been in vain so I now have no idea what to try next. Is there an ffmpeg qt-fastart for dummies tutorial anywhere?

Should Quicktime work? Am I doing anything wrong?
Is there an easy way to check if the file has streaming metadata without uploading each time?

Thank you Buzz,

This was encoded as m4v and renamed to mp4, encoded with quicktime player.
As an m4v the file did not seek at all. As mp4 it did seem to seek when loading.

I would like to try getting a properly encoded file with metadata, what program can I use with my Mac?

Many thanks
