I have an application that cannot be upgraded to the newer version of jQuery. The base product uses jQuery v1.2.6 and does not allow for an upgrade. I like "jquery tools" but I am not sure if v1.1.1 will work with jQuery 1.2.6. If not, is there an older version available for download that is compatible with jQuery 1.2.6?

To be honest my answer is "I don't know". I have coded the Tools without using the latest 1.3 features and it "should work" but I have never tested and ensured this. This hasn't been my highest priority. I like to code with the latest versions. You can always test and share your experiences.

In case anyone stumbles upon this thread, the old versions are still present on the CDN. I'm using Drupal 6 with jQuery 1.2.6 - the highest version that seems to work for me is jQuery Tools 1.1.0, which you can get from:
http://cdn.jquerytools.org/1.1.0/tiny/jquery.tools.min.js
